The hair oil is sooo light, moisturizing and it smells really good. I just got my hair braided like 2 weeks ago and my new growth is showing out already. I need to tell my hair to slow down so I can enjoy my hairstyle longer😂

Jazmine

I finally tried your products and I LOVE THEM!!!! I used the intense moisture cream and curl cream to style my hair in Bantu knots. It came out so nice, better than any other hair products I’ve tried. It has my hair really soft, curly and it smells good too! I’m super pleased! 😊

Low, high & normal porosity hair

Hair 101

LOC vs LCO

The LOC ( Liquid Oil Cream ) method is a technique for moisturizing hair.

It consists of hydrating the hair with water or a water-based product which is your liquid, sealing in the moisture with oil and then applying a cream product to close the hair cuticle which prevents moisture loss.

The LCO - Is a method of applying a leave in conditioner, curl cream the sealing it all in with a oil.

Low porosity hair requires more effort to allow moisture into the hair shaft, therefore the LCO method is ideal. The liquid in the LCO or Leave in should always be a watery leave-in conditioner

(Because low porosity hair has hard time accepting product it needs watery based products because it penetrates the hair shaft more easily)

, followed by a Cream which could be a leave-in conditioner, to further aid the moisturisation process. Then topped off and sealed in with an oil (a sealant oil) to trap all the moisture in.

Keys to retaining moisture & length!

1. Silk satin bonnet/pillow case

2. Keep scalp clean & moist.. NOT dry!

3. Clip ends often by a professional cosmetologist, not yourself because there are a specific type of shears you have to use & a certain logic to hair trimming/cutting. Kitchen shears are NOT meant for hair cutting.

4. Deep Condition weekly/biweekly

5. Detangle the proper way, while hair is wet never dry.

6. Detangle from ends working your way up...never start detangling or combing from roots.

7. Protien treatments a very ideal for high porosity hair types. Not so much for low porosity hair it causes it to become even more dry.

8. Smooth shampoo through scalp to ends never work shampoo through hair balling or knitting hair up.

9. Always work in sections. Rushing to get finished can cause extreme damage to the hair. Like unnecessary tangling, breakage & split ends. If your hair is on the thicker side & extra kinky curly, working in smaller sections is important.

10. Let your hair be sometimes, don't always re-style your hair everyday. It leads to unnecessary knotting, breakage & split ends.

11. Protect your ends by doing healthy protective styles that will preserve your curls while they are being protected.

12. Always moisturize and seal the moisture in to your ends. Ends of the hair are considered dead in cosmetology terms...but they still are apart of our hair and they need detrimental care. Especially if your hair is prone to dryness & breakage.

13. Don't over shampoo (shampooing too often) bi weekly is enough, anything more is damaging and drying to the hair. Even some moisturizing shampoo can be drying because its still cleansing the hair and removing dirt/dead cells.

14. Focus more on the scalp when shampooing not on the hair so much the dirt on hair will rinse down as the hair is rinsed from scalp first.

15. Use products that are creditable. Sometimes products that are not as expensive can still be good dependong on what's in the ingredients.

16. Try co-washing more often or as a replacement to shampooing. It will consistently bring moisture to the hair while cleaning the scalp and hair of any build up or product residue.

17. Oil is not a moisturizer so don't use it as one. Oil is meant for scalp/skin not on hair unless the oil is a sealant. Then and only then can it be applied to the hair to seal in moisture after applying a leave in conditioner etc...

18. Be consistent in your hair routine ... consistency is key in any routine or in any thing you strive to grow in.

19. Don't always do what you see others doing on YouTube or Instagram. What works for them may not always work for you! Everyone hair is different we have different DNA. We might have similar curl patterns, lengths & textures but no one's hair is the same. If that person if not a licensed cosmetologist or knowledgable about the science of hair do not do what they advice you too it may not be as credible as you think.

20. Too much thermal heat causes dryness which leads to breakage and split ends which stunts overal growth and health of hair. Try to only use heat 1x a month or ever few months and if you're serious 1 times a year.

It's nothing wrong with heat but you must be knowledgeable and educated about what type of heat protectants are best for your hair. Some water based heat protectants dry out the hair or cause friction while some serum/cream based heat protectants moisturize and add shine.

21. Use a heated cap, hood steam dryer or hooded dryer when deep conditioning it really opens the hair follicles allowing moisture to penetrate. This results in softer, smoother, easier to manage hair if using a proper deep conditioning cream/conditioner!

***these are not l of the keys to retaining moisture and length, there are much more, these are just a few that stand out***
